I am a Career Development Fellow in Early Modern History at The Queen’s College. My research focuses on gentry culture and society in early modern Britain and the British Atlantic world. I am particularly interested in early modern Wales and its contribution to the formation of the British state.
My doctoral thesis, which I am currently revising as a monograph, used the example of the Welsh gentry to examine the relationship between power and identity in early modern Britain. While at Oxford, I am also developing my second book project. This looks at early modern Welsh colonial activity in North America, including its impact on Indigenous peoples and its role in the construction of British imperialism.
