I am a DPhil Candidate in English at St John's College, currently the CEMS Research Co-Ordinator for the 2022-23 academic year.
My doctoral research is funded as part of the Leverhulme Trust Doctoral Centre, Publication Beyond Print. I am producing the first critical edition of the legal treatise on the Elizabethan succession by the common lawyer, Edmund Plowden. This treatise is extant in six manuscript witnesses. My thesis explores the variously cunning uses Plowden makes of the legal fiction of the king's two bodies (latterly made famous by Ernst Kantorowicz) in advocating for the succession of Mary Stewart, Queen of Scots.
